What happens to a prepaid credit card when the money is spent?

I know how credit cards work, and for the most part prepaid(even though I’ve never used one), but I’m not sure about what exactly happens when the full dollar amount is spent on the prepaid card.

Some are reloadable but most are simply garbage after they are empty …. shred it.
